About Me

Hi there!  I’m Sandy, and this is my blog.  I’m a National Mall and Memorial Parks Volunteer, and I love every minute of it!  I’ve been volunteering for 11 years, and that means I’ve met a LOT of people.  And I’m here to tell you all about them.

I grew up in New Jersey, went to college at Penn State, and law school in Baltimore.  I have lived in Maryland since 1993 and spending time in DC was always one of my favorite things to do.  Now I get to do it all the time, and share all the wonderful things about Our Nation’s Capital with hundreds of people every week.  What could be better than that?!

I have an older brother and a younger sister, three nephews and a niece, and they all live up in NJ, where my father and stepmother also live.  My family consists of a dog (Fiona), four cats (Popcorn, Lambchop, Oliver, and Sam) who make up the feline terrorist organization of Al Cata (they are always plotting to kill me, I’m sure of it), and a betta fish named Morgan J. Fishington (Morgy or Mr. Fishington for short).

I love IndyCar racing, baseball, and football.  I am a marathon runner and love pace coaching for my local running store’s training programs.  I love to read and cook, and in addition to my time on the National Mall, I also volunteer as a spay/neuter surgery tech at an animal shelter.
